Question: |
What makes worshipping at Harvest different from worshipping elsewhere? |
| |
Answer: |
While there are many fine churches, we believe several things differentiate Harvest. First and foremost is the attitude of the people worshipping. At Harvest we strive to not just “go through the motions” in worshipping Jesus. Harvesters are encouraged to use their talents to glorify the Lord Jesus and further His kingdom, not just orchestrate a slick performance. The preaching is unapologetically taken straight from the Bible and is presented as the life-changing Word of God, not merely a set of ethical platitudes or dry dust. Our heartbeat and passion is to see authentic Christianity lived out before a watching and needy world drives us to do more than “play church” but to live in such a way that our relationship with Jesus is undeniable. |

Question: |
What can I expect if I attend? |
| |
Answer: |
Our Adult Bible Fellowships & Children’s Sunday School begin at 9:15 on Sunday mornings. Our worship service begins at 10:35. Children 3 and up join us for the first part of the service so that families can worship together (children 2 and younger are cared for in a loving nursery ministry during the entire worship service) and after the children’s sermon, children from 3 years to 6 th grade have the option of attending children’s church where they worship together initially then break into age appropriate groups for deeper teaching times. Adults and teens remain in the worship service as we continue worshipping in song followed usually by a time of testimony and prayer. Following is the morning’s message where the Bible is preached and the truths are practically applied to daily life. |

Question: |
Will I be singled out in any way? |
| |
Answer: |
The pastors and greeters try to give new faces a complimentary information packet detailing Harvest’s ministries before the service begins. But fear not, you will not be asked to wear a ribbon, called to stand up, do the hokey pokey or any other potentially embarrassing introduction to the rest of us. |

Question: |
If I decide to join Harvest, how is that done? |
| |
Answer: |
At the close of our worship service we offer an opportunity for people to respond to the Lord’s promptings in their heart. Some people accept Christ at this time, some come forward to be obedient in Christian baptism, others come forward for someone to pray for them about a particular burden, others use this time to join Harvest. Joining Harvest involves speaking to a pastor or deacon who will ask you about your salvation, your baptism, if you can abide by Harvest’s faith and practices laid out in our constitution, and why you believe God is leading you to our church. |

Question: |
Why do you meet at the Girl Scout building, and do you have a more permanent facility in the works? |
| |
Answer: |
Harvest is a relatively new church founded in February of 2004 and as such we rent space for our present ministries. As the Lord has blessed Harvest we have grown from meeting in an elementary school to a high school to the Radisson Conference Center and now to the Drifting Dunes Girl Scout Council building. As of August of 2005 God has blessed our church with the acquisition of 18.5 acres on Madison and 75 th Avenue just a half mile north of the Meijer supercenter on Route 30. Harvest is in the process of planning for a permanent ministry facility on this site in the near future. Join us as we watch God raise up a banner of light and truth for future generations in the heart of Northwest Indiana! |
