Awana is an international children's and youth organization that began in 1950 in Chicago, Illinois. By 1960, Awana had already registered 900 clubs. Today, more than 10,400 churches in the United States run an Awana program. There are clubs in all 50 states, 100 other countries, and six continents. The acronym Awana comes from the first letters of Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed, taken from 2 Timothy 2:15.
The goal of Awana is to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him. We accomplish this by making Awana FUN! Kids who have been to Awana want to go back because it's fun. And while they're having fun, they are learning important biblical truths and growing physically, socially, mentally and spiritually.
Our Awana club is divided into three age-appropriate groups that are led by trained leaders.
| Cubbies |
for 3 & 4 year olds (must be 3 by August 1st) |
Sparks |
for Kindergarten, 1st & 2nd graders |
| Truth & Training (T & T) |
for 3rd-6th grade boys & girls |
An Awana club night has three segments: Game Time, Handbook Time, & Council Time. Each segment has its own purpose, but all of them are fun.
| Game Time: |
Team competition takes place on the Awana circle with games exclusive to Awana as well as traditional playground favorites. |
| Handbook Time: |
Kids work one-on-one with a trained leader to complete
handbook sections. |
| Council Time: |
Each club meets together for a Bible message, award presentations, and announcements. |
Our Awana club meets weekly on Sunday evenings from 5:30-7:30 p.m., September through May. You are welcome to come and join us at any time. If you have additional questions please contact our Awana Commander.
