Children's Ministry

Our prayer is that Harvest has the finest children's ministry in Northwest Indiana. We have sought the Lord and the wise counsel of His people in constructing a Biblical, balanced, and enjoyable children's ministry. We have sought to disciple the children God sends to our church into a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and equip them for a lifetime of serving Him. We have also consciously sought to help facilitate family worship in your home. For instance, we have chosen curriculum that is divided along developmental stages, but places all the children on the same Biblical subject on the same Sunday. That way, parents of children of various ages can all discuss their lesson together after church. There is also a take home page for family devotions throughout the week. Our Kids Own Worship hour is a time of hand’s on application of God’s Word along with lively music to help our kids praise Jesus Christ.  And our Sunday Evening Awana is a time of learning to work together through games, team participation is encouraged even with in the children’s workbook time and lesson time.

We are so pleased to be a part of your child's life. Harvest's teachers want to do their best. If at anytime you have suggestions, questions, or concerns please feel free to contact your child's teacher or Rachel Winchester.

Mission Statement

Harvest believes children are precious in God's sight. We believe God views parents as the ones responsible for training their children in God's love and His Ways. Harvest is committed to helping parents accomplish this task by being partners with the parents to teach by example through worship times and Bible study.
Our mission as the Body of Christ is to see families strengthening their relationship with Jesus Christ and with each other. We are committed to helping families make connections, viewing the Faith lessons they learn and take home with them as avenues to spark conversation and activity that would apply God's Word to daily life. The concept for our mission comes from Deut. 6:7 "Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up…."
Harvest believes biblical training will lead families to live God's Word daily in and through their every day tasks.
Harvest has clearly stated objectives for the FaithWeaver Kids' and Kids Own Worship Ministries and we prayerfully look to our God to attain these goals and fulfill this mission statement.

Objectives

1. The Students will participate in Family Worship, learning what it is like to be involved in the adult service.
2. The Students will praise the Lord through their own worship, music, and prayer time.
3. The Students will learn to testify of the Lord's goodness and power.
4. The Students will memorize the Scripture as well as be able to explain the Scripture that has been memorized.
5. The Students will listen and respond to age-appropriate lessons.
6. The Students will learn to interact with their peers and encourage their peers in spiritual growth through age-appropriate activities.
7. The Students will be challenged to make decisions regarding Salvation, Baptism, Evangelism, and Discipleship.
8. The Students will have the opportunity to feel loved and accepted by caring teachers who will listen and respond to the students' comments, questions, and actions.

Attitudes and Actions expected while involved with
FaithWeaver Kids' Ministry

Be kind to all classmates.
(Ephesians 4:29 "Be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one
another...")

Respect each other's space and property.

Respect the school's property and be ready to help keep it clean.

Show respect and patience during class time.
(2 Peter 1:5-8 "...add to your faith...temperance, patience....brotherly kindness charity.")

Give respect and obedience to those in authority.
(1 Timothy 5:1,2 "Rebuke not an elder, but entreat him as a father;... The elder women as mothers...with all purity.")
If we do as this verse says we must obey and honor those who are older (authority figures) as we would parents.
(Ephesians 6: 1,2 "Children, obey your parents in the Lord...Honor thy father and mother...")

These attitudes if portrayed properly by all students will help in keeping FaithWeaver Kids' and Kids’ Own Worship Ministries fun, exciting, and smooth running environments where worship and learning will occur both spontaneously and in controlled lessons.
